The Quarterjacks Marching Band – Wimborne’s Town Band
Music has always been part of Wimborne’s story.
Today, The Quarterjacks Marching Band proudly serves as Wimborne’s Town Band, representing our town across Dorset, throughout the UK and, on occasion, overseas. Every performance carries the name of Wimborne with pride, whether we are leading a parade through our own streets or marching in front of thousands of spectators further afield.
But our story didn’t begin with The Quarterjacks.
Our roots stretch back through the Dorset Youth Marching Band and, before that, the East Dorset Scout Band, organisations that introduced generations of young people to music, teamwork, discipline and lifelong friendships. Each generation has built upon the last, creating the band you see today.
Our connection with Wimborne runs even deeper.
The current Band Master proudly continues a family tradition that spans generations. His great-grandfather, together with his brothers, were members of the original Wimborne Town Band, creating an unbroken link between the town’s musical past and its future. It is a heritage we are incredibly proud to preserve.
Music for Everyone
We believe music should be accessible to everyone.
Whether you’re eight or eighty, an experienced musician or someone who has never picked up an instrument before, there is a place for you in our band. We welcome people from every background and every walk of life who simply share one thing in common – a love of music and a willingness to learn.
We don’t expect perfection.
We provide encouragement, training and support, helping members develop not only as musicians but also as confident, responsible individuals.
Many members arrive with little or no musical experience. They leave with skills that stay with them for life.
